Worm castings are among the richest soil amendments around: they contain a perfect balance of micronutrients, macronutrients, and 60 trace minerals and elements like manganese, copper, zinc, cobalt, borax, iron, and carbon. Castings promote healthy root systems, rapid plant growth and increased yields. Unlike chemical fertilizers, worm castings do not burn plants at any concentration. Worm castings are nontoxic to humans and animals and will also help your plants fight pests and diseases.
As a soil amendment, add one part worm castings to 2-3 parts potting mix. For more information about worm castings, visit Wormpost Vermont.

Vermicomposting (composting with worms) is one of the best ways to turn your food scraps into valuable compost. It can be done indoors year-round and it is faster than regular outdoor composting. Worms can consume about 1/2 of their body weight every day in scraps, and a population of worms can double in 6 months. You can start with a smaller amount of worms and increase your composting capacity as the population grows, or you can start off with a larger amount if you don't want to wait. You can build a worm bin yourself, or you can get something like the Worm Factory 360, which is like a Caribbean resort for worms.
Your worms will be shipped directly to you by Wormpost Vermont at the shipping address you specify during checkout. The shipping cost is included in the price. Just choose a free shipping method like "in-store pickup" during checkout if you are ordering only worms. We can also just send a mail-in certificate if you are giving the gift of worms. Just contact us and let us know that you prefer the certificate.
Worms are shipped year round to the United States except Hawaii and Puerto Rico. Worms cannot be shipped to Canada. In colder months, make sure your shipping location provides a warm place to leave the worms if you cannot receive the package personally.
There are approximately 1,000 worms to the pound.
